Norfolk, Va. – A high school student was taken into custody Thursday morning after bringing a gun to school.
Shortly before 9 a.m., police and school security were notified that there was a student inside a classroom at Granby High School who had a concealed gun.
Officers responded to the classroom, detained the 17-year-old student and recovered the concealed gun without incident.
Parents tell Newschannel 3 they were shocked to hear about the incident.
“I am so scared I think about it everyday all I can do is pray, pray for my children,” said Brittan Butts.
The student is being questioned by detectives and charges are pending.
There were no injuries reported.
School Officials say they alerted parents through a program called Black Board.
