Chesapeake, Va. – Western Branch High School was evacuated the morning of February 29, due to reports of a possible gas leak.

Chesapeake Firefighters were called to the school, located at 1968 Bruin Drive, just before 8a.m.

As crews arrived, they found the school evacuated.

After an investigation it was found that the smell was coming from a spill of oily water from the school’s boiler room.

They also conducted further investigations, by walking through the school, using meters to detect the presence of gas, but nothing was found.

Students are now back inside the building.
