Gloucester, Va. – One man’s intuition to buy a $10 scratcher helped him win $1 million.
Marcell Parker purchased the at the Stop & Go at 1505 George Washington Memorial Highway in Gloucester Point after seeing a sign stating that someone won $5 million playing the lottery at the same store in December.
“Something inside me just said, ‘Try the $10 ticket.’” he said.
The prize was a choice between $1 million over 30 years or a cash option of $537,393 before taxes. Parker chose to take the cash option.
The Stop & Go will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Parker is the second player to claim the $1 million top prize from the 20x the Money game. That means one top prize has yet to be claimed in this game. The odds of winning the top prize in this game are 1 in 1,305,600. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.55.
