Hampton, Va. - A 21-year old man is recovering after he says a minivan hit him and kept going.

"I was face to face with a tire and thought I was dead almost," said Phillip Reed. "It was definitely terrifying."

The driver of the minivan was exiting the Taco Bell on Grimes Road on Wednesday when it hit Reed, according to police. The driver sped off, leaving Reed lying on the sidewalk. "It caught my front wheel and drug me under the car," he said. "The back-end ran over my arm and leg."

Luckily, Reed isn't seriously hurt, but is sore and has a large scratch on his back. His bike is a different story. "It put my handlebars sideways," he said. "The bars are crooked and bent."

Reed says he was in complete shock after the incident and didn't know what to do. Thankfully, a construction crew saw everything that happened and tried to help. "They went to look for the guys and couldn't find them," Reed said. "[They] helped me call the cops, so I want to thank them. They helped me get through it."

Police want anyone with information to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

"I know they didn't do it on purpose, but the fact of the matter is they left me," he said. "They didn't come back. They didn't make sure I was okay. How do you run someone over and not see if they are okay?"
