Virginia Lottery makes ‘problem gambling’ PSA

Posted

The Virginia Lottery has decided to promote a public service announcement for National Problem Gambling Awareness Month. The PSA  will help the Virginia Problem Gambling Helpline.  They have also created “Play Responsibly” brochures  as well as instructional videos for employers.

The helpline number is printed out on every Virginia Lottery ticket. Helpline operators will answer questions and refer callers to Gamblers Anonymous.

The public service announcement, called Play Responsibly,  was created for TV and radio use and will air March 1 through March 7. All lottery promotions on TV and radio will be suspended during that week.

Some people are able to gamble without ill effects, but others may experience how harmful it can be.

For those who may think that they or their loved ones have a gambling problem, call the toll free number (888) 532-3500 or visit their website.
