Norfolk, Va. – Brink Records is set to film a concert on the Battleship USS Wisconsin.
The concert will take place in early May 2016. It will be filmed for a concert film and separately released music videos.
The concert is for Brink Records’ New Artist Search and the Street Level Sessions concert series. Brink has signed one regional artist this year and will sign at least one more act from the region before 2017.
“We’ve been in this business in some capacity since 1987 and in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area since 1993,” says Brink’s Head of PR/Marketing Grace Garvin-Little. “For whatever reason, cities go through talent cycles. We’ve seen it in D.C., Seattle, even Roanoke. Our A&R Department thinks now is the time for the Norfolk/Virginia Beach region to step onto the national stage in a much bigger way.”
Street Level Sessions is a 20 to 30 concert series taking place mainly in Norfolk throughout 2016. The mission of SLS is to showcase the arts and entertainment culture of the area. SLS expects to produce over 250 music videos by the end of the year, featuring as many as 25 different acts.
Shows will be held in a variety of places, from traditional venues to record stores to roof tops to the Battleship USS Wisconsin.
“This is such a rapidly developing and great area,” Garvin-Little said. “We feel privileged to not only be capturing the rise of a truly special music scene, but the story of a city and a region taking the next step in its evolution.”
The artists performing on the USS Wisconsin will be announced in April of 2016. Artists of all genres are invited to submit their music through April 8, 2016.
Brink Records is an independent label based in Virginia Beach. The label grew from a tech startup in which the founders Drew Little and Grace Garvin-Little were involved. Together they have nearly five decades experience in the music industry.
