Norfolk, Va. – Eighth graders from Sail Nauticus Academy tested out wooden row boats they built completely by themselves.

The Sail Nauticus Academy is a year long after-school program that involves sail training, maritime sciences, mathematics and swimming and water safety lessons. The program recruits 6th grade students from selected area middle schools.

The students tested the boats in the front ponds of Nauticus on the Elizabeth River.
