Portsmouth, Va. – The T.O. Williams meat packing plant in Portsmouth has been temporarily closed after a fire broke out inside on Thursday.
At around 1:05 p.m., the first crews arrived at the plant in the 300 block of Wythe Street.
The fire was under control within just minutes.
The fire was inside of a meat smoking facility inside of the plant.
It started in an electrical panel and spread throughout the meat smoking area.
There was smoke damage throughout the building.
Officials say 21 people were inside at the time and they were all able to get out safely.
No one was injured.
Repairs will have to be done before the plant reopens.
The fire was accidental.
No other details have been released.
