Newport News, Va. – Newport News Public Schools has been selected to host the Virginia Cybercamp 2016 Program.

This program by the Virginia Department of Education is designed to increase student awareness in cybersecurity. They are one of 32 locations in the state. They are expected to receive $62, 500 from the VDOE to implement the camp.

Governor Terry McAuliffe started Cyber Virginia and the Virginia Cyber Security Commission in February 2014 to develop recommendations to identify the role of k-12 education in building and ensuring a cybersecurity pipeline to prepare students for that career field.
