Suffolk, Va. – An Isle of Wight Academy bus was involved in an accident in the 2200 block of Manning Road Tuesday morning.
A parent of a student on the bus called Suffolk Emergency Communications and informed them of the incident.
The parent told communications that the bus left the pavement, drove into a ditch and struck a mailbox.
The bus did not remain at the scene.
Officers responded and met the bus driver on Route 58 eastbound at Pitchkettle Road.
The driver was issued a summons for reckless driving/failure to maintain control.
Eight students were on the bus at the time of the incident. It is unknown whether they received medical treatment after arriving at school.
