Elizabeth City, N.C. - The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a homicide. On Thursday afternoon, they were called to a home in the 600 block of Forest Park Road just outside of Elizabeth City.

The Sheriff's Department says they were called to the home after a friend of the man who lived there found him dead inside the house. They say he was near the back of the home. The Sheriff's Department called in extra crews to go through the home and yard, shocking neighbors who came home from work to see their neighbor's home covered in crime tape.

The victim has been identified as 74-year-old George Washington Price Junior.

"I can't believe it happened here," said a neighbor named John. He asked Newschannel 3 to not use his last name. He has lived across the street from the victim for two years but says he didn't have much of a relationship with him.

"It's a nice, quiet good neighborhood. Neighbors all talk to each other, he's the only one I haven't talked to," said John.

Other neighbors were too shaken up to talk on camera today, but say they just want to know if Washington's death was random or if he was targeted. Sheriff Randy Cartwright says neighbors don't need to worry.

"I don't think there's a concern for the safety of others out here right now," said Sheriff Cartwright.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Department says they are waiting on an autopsy to determine how the man died.

At this time no arrests have been made.
