Norfolk, Va. – A Suffolk man and a Norfolk man recently won big in two different Virginia Lottery drawings.

Danny Laurent of Suffolk, who won $700,000 in October, tried his luck again during the Pick 4 game on March 17.

But Danny didn’t just play once! He bought 20 plays, each with the same four-digit combination. And those numbers — 0, 5, 1 and 6 were drawn, making all 20 of those tickets winners.

The prize for each ticket was $5,000, for a total of $100,000.

“If I get a feeling, I might play the number several times,” he said as he claimed his most recent prize.

He said he didn’t initially intend to play the same number 20 times when he bought the ticket. He used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select the number combination. When he saw 0-5-1-6, he said, “Well, that looks like a lucky number. Let’s see what happens.”

Winning again was “pure crazy luck,” he said. “I was pretty astonished.”

Over in Norfolk, Lavar Davis bought five winning tickets for the March 19 Cash 5 drawing. He selected the numbers 2,5,18,24, and 26, using family birthdays.

The prize for each winning ticket was $100,000, for a total of $500,000!

“I couldn’t believe it at first,” he said as he collected his winnings. “I called my father-in-law to double-check the numbers. He looked and started screaming.”

The auto mechanic said he has no immediate plans for his winnings except to become debt-free.
