Has someone called you saying you have to report to jury duty and failing to do so will land you behind bars?
Portsmouth Police are warning citizens to watch out for scammers trying to get money from citizens.
They say a senior citizen called them concerning failure to report for jury duty.
She told them a man with a heavy accent called to notify her that if she failed to report for jury duty, two warrants were going to be issued for her arrest.
But she was given another option to pay $1,000.
Thankfully, authorities told the woman that this was a scam and if she missed jury duty, it would not be handled this way.
