Newport News, Va. - The Newport News Fire Department responded to fires at two neighboring homes near Marshall Avenue and 22nd Street on Friday.
Crews responded to the homes, which are located side-by-side, around 11 a.m and found heavy smoke coming from them both.
Searches of the homes have been completed, NNFD reports.
The fire was declared under control just after Noon. Fire crews will remain on scene looking for hot spots.
