Pasquotank County, NC - Shots were fired near the Pasquotank County Courthouse on Monday, according to the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office.
Elizabeth City Police responded to the courthouse. The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office is providing assistance.
According to Pasquotank County Sheriff Cartwright, a group was standing outside of the courthouse. Two young men started shooting at the group and ran away from the scene after the shots were fired. Sheriff Cartwright says he thinks his deputies found evidence from the incident, including clothes and weapons.
Courthouse officials say the courthouse and a vehicle parked in front of the courthouse were damaged.
Law enforcement is investigating the scene around the courthouse. The investigation led to other evidence a few blocks away, so law enforcement is processing that scene as well.
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
