VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Grommet Island Park at the Oceanfront will be closed Saturday for sand removal.
This happens regularly because the sand gets too deep and becomes level with the Oceanfront.
The sand can not be removed with big equipment in the kid’s play area and has to be shoveled out.
The sand is nearly two feet deep in some areas. This process has been done three times since March.
