VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – After a social media campaign to recover his lost dogs made its way around the seven cities, Lee Travers said his two black labs have finally been returned to him.

According to Travers, Thomas Keltner returned the dogs early Tuesday morning.

Keltner told NewsChannel 3 he found the two dogs tied up outside of a Wawa located on Virginia Beach Blvd. and First Colonial Road.

He says he looked around for an owner, but took the dogs in because they looked like the needed water. The two black labs had dog tags with a phone number on it.

“I tried to calling the number all day,” said Keltner, who finally got ahold of their owner Tuesday morning.

Travers says he frequents the Wawa often, and typically ties the dogs to a tree if he goes inside the convenience store.

“I own a lawn care company,” Travers told NewsChannel 3. “They’re like humans. They know what I’m doing, and they know when I’m coming back.”
