NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A Newport News mom pulled out a gun while allegedly trying to stop a fight between her daughter and another girl.
Newport News Police said they were called to a large fight in the Castle Drive area of the King’s Ridge apartment complex on May 5.
The mother of a girl involved in a fight pulled out a gun on another 16-year-old girl.
When police arrived, the mother of the 16-year-old told the officers what happened.
Annette Lanier, a resident who lives in the area, said pulling a gun threatens everyone’s safety.
“That’s like saying you’re going to kill somebody and that’s crazy, especially over this little nonsense stuff,” said Lanier.
Police are not taking out a warrant for the women who pulled out her gun because it’s a misdemeanor offense. According to police, the mother who complained would have to press charges.
