HAMPTON, Va. - Public works crews with the City of Hampton were seen cleaning storm drains and ditches on Thursday.
According to city officials, they perform drain and ditch clearing maintenance regularly so that they can be ready whenever a storm hits. Neighbors say they are always happy to see crews taking action to protect their neighborhoods.
"There's much growth, weeds and stuff like that," said Cora Wilmoth, who lives near a storm ditch. "I'm sure it's full with stuff that will keep the water from draining off."
Hampton Public Works crews weren't the only ones getting their city ready for storms, similar scenes could be seen all across Hampton Roads.
