CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A father is searching for justice after his oldest son is gunned down and possibly lured to his death by a person he met online.
Charles Towe thinks his son’s killer knows his family.
“The killer could've been right there smiling in my face talking with me and my son,” said Charles Towe.
NewsChannel 3 met up with Charles Towe in his old neighborhood Friday on Colonial Way in Chesapeake, the same spot where his son, Cedric, was murdered last November.
Charles now carries a gun everywhere he goes for protection.
The last time he saw his child, he dropped the 21-year-old off and told the young man to leave his new gun at home.
“In a way I feel like I left him unprotected, but we grew up in the area so I just trusted everybody,” Charles said.
New court records alleged that Cedric had been communicating with a girl he met on Facebook for three days. Police know her name.
Records state that the female told him to come to 40 Colonial Way.
Instead of a date, Cedric was lured to his death, shot and killed.
His father thinks the killer knows his family and says it’s too ironic that Cedric was directed to go to his old home.
“I feel like somebody that knows me knows that we used to live on the street.I do feel like he was set up. He was lured here for that purpose,” Charles said.
Charles wants justice and thinks others have more information than what they are sharing with authorities.
“They need to stop being scared. Until you say something, ain't nobody safe. You never know, they probably could come back and you could be the victim,” he said.
Police said no one has been arrested and call this an ongoing investigation.
