VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A man is trying to make the Oceanfront more accessible for skateboarders.
Sunday Tim Delpiero, launched an online petition for skateboards and longboards to be allowed on the bike path. Currently, only bikes and roller blades are allowed to be used on the bike path, which runs along the boardwalk.
Delpiero says there is no difference between skate boarding and rollerblading. "Roller skates or blades are no different in that they require human energy as the only form of propulsion and this remains legal, yet consistently poses the same risk to pedestrians."
