CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Lewis Fischer is a very friendly 84-year-old, but these days he gets nervous any time someone walks near his house.
"It's terrible when you can't walk out your front door and are scared someone's going to get you," Fisher said.
Two people, believed to be teenagers, robbed and attacked Fischer last week outside of his home on Scotia Drive, where he's lived since 1958. Police have arrested a 16-year old in the case, but are still looking for someone else. The teen is charged with malicious wounding, robbery, and carjacking.
"Nothing is going to make me feel real comfortable until I'm sure both are caught," he said.
The two split Fischer's head open. He thinks one beat him with a pipe. They were hiding behind his house and then stole his car. Luckily, he's gotten it back, but won't park in the driveway like he did the day he got attacked.
"I park the car on the street because I don't want to take a chance of them hiding around the house and catching me unaware," he said.
While the injuries on the outside appear to be healing, the ones beneath the surface haven't. Fisher is even complaining of feeling disoriented at times. "The bad part is it affects you in so many ways. That scares me."
For now, he says he's doing the best he can. Anyone with information on the second person is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
