NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. – A Chesapeake woman died Sunday morning after being thrown from a motorcycle in a crash in the Nassawadox area of Northampton County.

State Police say Irene Boyd was driving a 2000 Ford Focus on Route 13 and made an unsafe lane change, causing a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle to flip as it tried to avoid being hit by the Ford.

The passenger on the motorcycle, 43-year-old Christina Bowman-Weaver, was thrown from the bike.

Bowman-Weaver was taken to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle is expected to be okay. Both the driver and Bowman-Weaver were wearing helmets.

Boyd, 75, was charged with unsafe lane change. She was not hurt.

Alcohol nor speed played a factor in the crash.
