Man arrested in connection to Hampton convenience store robbery

HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton Police have arrested a man in connection to a robbery that occurred May 20 at Murphy’s Gas Station in the 1900 block of Cunningham Drive.

Police say they were notified of the incident around 2:35 a.m. that morning.

The investigation revealed a man entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled from the store and left in a white, two-door Ford hatchback vehicle with right, front fender damage.

Police arrested Wayne Richard Blayton in connection to the robbery. He has been charged with one count of Robbery and one count of Burglary While Armed.

He remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail.
