Portsmouth heroin dealer pleads guilty to drug trafficking, firearm charges

NORFOLK, Va. – Michael Lanell Easley Jr. pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Undercover officers bought drugs from Easley, according to court documents.

Easley, 36, had a home on Riverview Avenue in Portsmouth for the purpose of making and distributing heroin.

On November 23, 2015, federal agents and state law enforcement officers attempted to execute an arrest and search warrant related to Easley.

As the agents and officers came up to Easley, he ate a significant amount of heroin. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Easley came close to having a heart attack several times during the trip, but doctors were able to stabilize him and he survived.

Officers found heroin and a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun in Easley’s home. They also found digital scales and strainers used to prepare heroin for sale.

Easley will be sentenced on September 21. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
