DUNCAN, S.C. — A South Carolina beauty queen has been arrested for allegedly faking doctor’s notes.
Police told WSPA that 17-year-old Madison Cox, Miss South Carolina Teen International 2015, was arrested for forgery Monday.
Cox is accused of writing multiple doctor’s notes to cover absences from school, using a notepad from Parris Family Chiropractic.
But after an investigation, police say the notes were not legitimate — that the office didn’t see Cox on those days or they were closed.
The beauty queen went on a Twitter rant about the incident.
Cox deleted the original message, but followed up later in the day in response to all the backlash she was receiving via social media.
Cox was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen International in 2015 after previously holding the Miss Spartanburg Teen International 2015 sash. She is currently a student at Byrnes High School.
Cox has been charged with counterfeiting/forgery.
