Man charged with DUI after crashing into a Suffolk retention pond

Suffolk, VA (WTKR) – A Hampton man is facing DUI and other charges after police say he drove his car into a retention pond Saturday afternoon.

Suffolk Police and  Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the crash in the 1500 Block of Holland Road/Route 58 around 3:40 Saturday afternoon.

When police arrived, they found a Toyota SUV in the retention pond submerged up to the roof behind the McDonald’s Restaurant.

Suffolk Police say Marshavon Adams, 35, of Hampton was found outside of the car.

Adams was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Adams has been charged with DUI, Reckless Driving and Driving on a Suspended License in relation to the accident.
