ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. – Two people died as a result of a crash that occurred Monday night on Lankford Highway (Route 13) near Knotts Landing Road (Route 702) in Accomack County.
Virginia State Police say 56-year-old Lauren K. Burris was driving a 2004 Nissan Armada westbound on Route 13 in the right lane when he lost control, veered off the road and struck a light pole.
Burris died en route to Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
There were two other passengers in the vehicle. The front seat passenger was unharmed, but the back seat passenger, 57-year-old Camilla Williams suffered life threatening injuries and died early Tuesday morning from those injuries.
Alcohol nor speed played factors in the accident.
