ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. - A 1-year-old baby was hit by a vehicle in Isle of Wight County on Wednesday, according to Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred in the 21000 block of Boundary Road around 11:30 a.m.
Police say the vehicle backed over the baby.
"Crazy. You always see it somewhere else or hear it on the news but right here in front of you brings it close to home," said Terri Gilbert, a friend of the little girl's family.
The baby does not appear to have life threatening injuries, but was flown to the hospital as a precaution.
"It's a miracle. All away around. The family will be so happy and hopefully that will put everyone at ease," Gilbert said.
