Christopher Lawrence Rouson arrested for murders of his father and stepmother in Bertie County

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. – A man has been arrested in Oklahoma for the murders of his father and stepmother in Bertie County on May 31.

Sheriff John Holley says the bodies of James and Anna Rouson were found on Sutton Road that afternoon.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office says through their investigation into the murders, Christoper Lawrence Rouson was developed as a suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest on June 1.

He was arrested in Vinita, Oklahoma at approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still ongoing.

Agencies assisting in the investigation included the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, FBI’s Tulsa Oklahoma Field Office, the NC SBI Fugitive and Missing Person Task Force and the Vinita Police Department.
