VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating a homicide in the 500 block of Jonathan Court in the Pembroke Manor area.
The call came in just before 5 p.m. on Friday.
Police say a woman was stabbed during an altercation.
The victim has been identified as 61-year-old May Joyce Washington-Brown.
Wesley Lee Brooks, 58, has been charged with second degree murder. He is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility without bond.
The Virginia Beach Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
"I was surprised when I started seeing the police tape go up," said Lisa Benedict, a neighbor. "Right away, I was a little nervous."
It's not clear how the man and woman knew each other.
