“Lion Dog” Charles the Monarch will stay with owner

NORFOLK, Va. - Charles the Monarch will get to stay with his owner, Daniel Painter who was found guilty of having a nuisance animal in court Monday.

Painter's violation charge was dismissed in court. Painter was sentenced to 60 days in jail with all those days suspended, a $2,500 fine with $1,500 suspended and has to do 40 hours of community service to a nonprofit.

Painter is on probation for two years, during which he must be on good behavior. Painter's attorney Bobby Howlett told News 3, Painter doesn't have a probation officer, he just has to stay within the law.
