ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – A 17-year-old was arrested early Saturday morning for breaking into a Verizon Wireless Store.

Around 3:45 a.m., police responded to the store on Tanglewood Parkway on a report of a breaking and entering.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a person exiting the business through a broken window.

The first officer on scene chased the subject and apprehended him.

Alkeem Banks, 17, of Elizabeth City was arrested for Possession of Burglary Tools and Felony Breaking and Entering.

Officers located a vehicle that Banks used to get to the business. It was parked and running unattended in a Walmart parking lot.

Banks was taken to Albemarle District Jail under a $15,000 secured bond, awaiting his first appearance scheduled for Monday morning.
