NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Stefon Malone, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday to drug and gun charges related to his involvement in drug trafficking conspiracy, according to the Department of Justice.

Malone’s plea agreement stated that his role within the conspiracy was to distribute cocaine base and to provide security for the drug trafficking operation.

He distributed cocaine base for two months from a rooming house on Chestnut Ave.

In February when Newport News Police officers served a search warrant at the rooming house, Malone fired his Glock 9mm pistol at them.

Malone struck two officers in their ballistic protective gear.

He was indicted by a federal grand jury in September and faces a maximum consecutive penalty of 5 to 40 years for the drug conspiracy and 10 years to life in prison for the firearm offense.

Malone is to be sentenced on October 19, 2016.
