VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Police arrested a man after they say he told a woman he was a Virginia Beach police detective.
The incident happened June 18 on Afton Court in the Kempsville Lake neighborhood.
A neighbor says the man was playing with her kids outside. When she asked the man who he was, he told her he was a detective doing undercover work and handed her a police business card.
She and her husband then asked for the man’s ID. The ID and business card didn’t match, so she called police. The man also refused to tell them his badge number, according to the neighbor.
Juan Alberto Mogoyo, 48, is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.
