CHESAPEAKE, Va. – The North Landing Bridge is back open Tuesday afternoon following a closure for damage repairs.
The bridge was closed for over five hours as the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, completed repairs on damaged gear teeth and steel girders.
These damages were caused by a barge accident on June 4.
The bridge is still restricted to four full openings per day for large watercraft. These openings will occur at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.
Bridge operators will also continue to open one span of the bridge every hour and a half hour between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for smaller watercraft.
