NAGS HEAD, N.C. – Fire officials and Ocean Rescue forces are preparing for the summer months with Sand Collapse Rescue Training.

The crews are going through courses to help them respond if sand does collapse on beach goers.

The Town of Nags Head Facebook page states that the crews see these types of incidents far too often.

They ask people to remember when digging holes in the sand, to be sure it only takes up a small area and is no deeper than the knees of the smallest person in the group. The hole must also be filled in when finished.
