NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Crews found the body of a 54-year-old man who went missing after his boat overturned Wednesday evening.
The body of Ronald Jerome Thornton was pulled from a lake behind the Lochaven on the Lake Apartments around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Newport News Fire Department was called to the lake shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Bystanders rescued one person and rescue crews spent the evening looking for Thornton.
The search was called off around midnight and started back up Thursday morning.
The Newport News Police Department Marine Patrol and York County Fire Rescue assisted in the search efforts.
Boats with a side scan sonar that can see underwater were used.
