NORFOLK, Va. – Anthony Burfoot has been indicted on eight corruption charges and the Supreme Court overturning of Gov. Bob McDonnell’s corruption conviction could be a good thing for Burfoot.
Andrew Sacks, Burfoot’s attorney, believes the Supreme Court made an important interpretation of the law that also governs Burfoot’s case.
Sacks says it’s helpful to have a clear definition of what “official acts” are that cause someone to be guilty. He recognizes that it’s not over, but that the decision could help Burfoot’s case.
In March a judge ruled Burfoot’s case would not be heard until after the Supreme Court ruling in the McDonnell’s case.
