NORFOLK, Va. – An inmate managed to dismantle the safety pin on a sprinkler head Monday, sending the courthouse into an evacuation.
Just after 1:00 p.m., Kevin Jefferson, 18, was in his holding cell outside of a courtroom. He was scheduled to face a judge Monday morning in general district court.
Jefferson set off the sprinkler system and evacuated the entire courthouse.
He’s facing charges for Strangulation, Simple Assault, Larceny, Grand Larceny, Obstruction of Justice, two counts of hit-and-run, Failure to Report, and Resisting Arrest.
