VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Sister Hazel, a popular alternative rock band, is to headline the 2016 Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon finish line festival at the 17th Street beach stage on September 4. The half marathon takes place in partnership with the American Music Festival, which is celebrating its 23rd year.
“There is no better way to celebrate that 13.1-mile accomplishment and the end of summer then a concert on the beach,” said Katie Holmes, event manager.
“With Sister Hazel headlining and a new concert timeline, race weekend is sure to be a party from start to finish. Online registration is still open so grab a friend, start a training program and join us in Virginia Beach for an epic race weekend.”
Sister Hazel is best known for hit single “All for You,” which topped the Billboard charts upon its release in 1997.
They aren’t the only band to be performing at the beach stages, this year’s headliners for the American Music Festival 5th Street stage are 311, Culture Club and UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue.
Half marathon runners will have access to these three major headline bands performing on the 5th Street main stage and other stages along the board walk.
“The American Music Festival will feature nearly two dozen national recording bands that will perform free on 17th Street, 22nd Street, 24th Street, and 31st Street stages,” said Mike Hilton, director of marketing for Beach Events. “In the next few weeks, all bands will be announced. Our goal every year is for AMF to present music for almost every musical preference and style.”
