NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A 29-year-old Norfolk man has been arrested on charges involving the alleged sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl in Newport News.
According to Newport News Police, detectives investigated reports of multiple sexual assault incidents that occurred in 2015 and 2016.
The suspect, Edward Deshaun Cannon, was known to the victim and would babysit the victim and her older sister overnight in their home.
Cannon, who resides in Norfolk, was charged with one count each of sodomy, indecent liberties with a child and aggravated sexual battery. He was arrested on July 5 has been placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
