Third suspect arrested after human remains found in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. – Police have arrested the third suspect in connection with a death investigation after human remains were found on North Campus Parkway Friday morning.

Police responded to the scene just before 11 a.m.

Officers arrived to find the human remains in a wooded area.

The remains were later identified as 29-year-old Jordan Lewis Madden. The cause of death is currently unknown and the circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.

According to police, Madden was reported missing by a family member on July 3. The family member told police his last known contact with family was on June 30 at around 9 p.m.

Miranda Carns, a 20-year-old Hampton woman and Cameron William Riss, a 25-year-old Hampton man, were arrested on July 9.

John Garrison Sawyer III, a 26-year-old Hampton man, was arrested on July 10 in connection with this incident. He has also been charged with one count of Unlawful Concealment of a Dead Body.

Police say the three suspects were all acquaintances of the victim.
