Virginia Beach police identify pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach Saturday.

Around midnight, officers were called to the 4700 block of Shore Drive for a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

Officers located 31 year-old, Jacob Bollard, suffering from injuries and notified the Fatal Accident Crash Team.

He was pronounced deceased by EMS units on scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Shore Drive approaching the traffic signal when Bollard entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle as it entered the intersection.

There are currently no charges pending for the driver of the vehicle at this time.
