NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State football teamed up with the Special Olympics and the Norfolk and Chesapeake Sheriff's office to host a friendly-turned-competitive kickball game.

"When our guys get the opporutinity to compete with Special Olympians, it gives our guys a chance to be appreciative of what they have, and it also gives those guys a chance to see how competitive those olympians are," said Spartans head coach Latrell Scott.

The Spartans kick their camp into full swing on August 4th, so it was a chance for the Spartans to get another perspective heading into the season. "When we get hot and we get tired, it just reminds them that it could be worse" said Scott.

August 25th UPDATE: Today, NSU presented the Special Olympics of Virginia with a check Thursday for $1,300 raised during the “Spartan Kickoff 2016”.
