Take off your shoes and throw on some grooves, it’s National Dance Day!
Thanks to the work of American congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Dance Day was created to promote dance and performance education, as well as physical fitness.
National Dance Day, now an “unofficial” national holiday, was launched in 2010 by “So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator and Dizzy Feet Foundation co-president Nigel Lythgoe.
So, get some friends, turn on a favorite tune, and follow #NationalDanceDay on Twitter to see dancers all across America!
