SUFFOLK, Va. – A man was charged with Racing Causing Serious Bodily Injury on Monday evening after a crash near Suffolk.
A preliminary investigation by police revealed that several vehicles were driving recklessly and exceeding the speed limit while traveling on Route 58 westbound near the weigh station.
The driver of the 4-door BMW sedan lost control and struck a Jeep Wrangler, causing it to roll.
The adult male driver of the Jeep was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is considered to have non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the BMW has been identified by police as Nikita Fidel Daughtrey, 38, of Portsmouth.
He was released from the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on an unsecured bond.
