N.C. sweet potato food truck sells U.S. produce across Germany

Posted

North Carolina sweet potatoes have made their way to Germany!

According to the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, their International Marketing department has partnered with the N.C. SweetPotato Commission to sponsor a food truck.

This isn’t just a regular food truck though. It traveled across Germany in July, feeding people at festivals in cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Augsburg, and others.

One of the food truck members says sweet potato fries were very popular with their customers, and in one country the truck had a long line for almost three hours.

The organizers of the program hope to introduce sweet potatoes to customers abroad and to increase the demand for North Carolina’s home-grown produce.

North Carolina is the leader in the U.S. in sweet potato production.

The department’s marketing staff hopes to expand this program in the United Kingdom, France, and Scandinavia as well.
