Nearly 1,200 runners, joggers and walkers got dirty for a great cause Saturday.
The 16th Annual Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) Mud Run was held at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
Participants climbed obstacles and trudged their way through pits of mud to help raise money for the ASYMCA, a non-profit organization that helps junior military families throughout the region. Proceeds from the run will help provide military families childcare, child development, spouse support activities and more.
Adult runners went through a mud filled, challenging eight kilometer course. There was also a Mini-Mud Run for children.
