VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia’s gas prices are the sixth least expensive out of all 50 states, according to AAA National.
AAA says prices are relatively low in the Southeastern U.S. barring a hurricane or unexpected event.
As of August 8, the current average gas price in Virginia was $1.91 and in Hampton Roads the price of regular averaged at $1.86.
Even better news? The pump prices are likely to remain cheap through the summer and into the fall. However, unexpected events, like a disruption in supply or geopolitical tensions overseas, could lead to higher prices. Hurricanes have impacted the distribution and production of gas in Midwestern states, which resulted in higher gas prices.
